FIC: "Constant" PG Shawn/Gus

"Dude, you always get the same thing," Shawn said, poking at Gus's grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and one tomato and no mayo. Well, this one came with mayo, so Gus was scraping it off with his knife. "Live a little, man."

"I know what I like," Gus said simply. "Better than you, with your constant..."

"With my constant what, Gus? With my constant thirst for adventure, trying new and exciting foods with all sorts of different spices and sauces from countries around the world? So what! So what if I don't like it, Gus, at least I'm trying something new," Shawn retorted.

"First of all, you ordered macaroni and cheese and a burrito. That is not cultural diversity, my friend, it's a microwave dinner." Gus put his now mayo-less bun back on his chicken. "Second of all, you like everything. So that's not really a problem."

"Gus, that is simply not true. I dislike lots of things. For instance, grilled chicken sandwiches."

"Whatever, Shawn." Gus took a bite and narrowed his eyes as Shawn unrolled his burrito and began spooning his macaroni into his burrito. "That's disgusting."

"It's going to be delicious," Shawn replied haughtily. Gus took another bite. Gus never lived outside of the box, and it was maddening. So Shawn told him so. "It's maddening, Gus! I try new things all the time! New jobs, new girls, new things with the girls-"

"A-ha," Gus said, sipping his Diet Coke with lots of ice. "So, really, you try new things constantly, right?"

"Right!"

"Constantly," Gus said, emphasizing the word. "Constant. You never try something new, because you're always trying something new, so really, it's all the same. See?"

Shawn didn't see. He considered this, and took a drink from his half Hawaiian Punch, half Dr. Pepper with no ice. To tell the truth, it was gross. He wouldn't tell Gus this, however, because Gus was already entirely too self-confident. Or maybe that was Shawn. Whatever. "Look, Gus, that's ridiculous. Some things I keep the same."

"Yeah?" Gus said. "Like what?"

"Like you," Shawn replied simply. This made Gus smile, reluctantly. Shawn considered this. "And even that," he said, putting his elbows on the table and leaning forward, over the table, "could use something new."

And he kissed Gus, who currently had a mouthful of grilled chicken sandwich, no mayo.

Then Shawn sat back. "That sandwich is kind of good," Shawn conceded. He had gotten a bite from Gus's mouth, and he swallowed it. It wasn't as disgusting as he thought.

Gus swallowed his own bite. "Well," he sputtered. "That was just- that was just you changing things again, wasn't it? You'll be on that waitress in like six seconds, and you just did that to freak me out and prove your point."

Shawn shook his head. "Not you," he said. "You I keep." He settled back, and rolled up his macaroni burrito. "You, I have the feeling, will be constant excitement and fun. Oh and there's the..." Shawn trailed off and took a bite of his macaroni burrito. It was as delicious as he suspected.

"And?" Gus prompted. He was kind of blushing, maybe.

"Oh!" Shawn swallowed, wiping his mouth with his napkin. "Sorry, didn't mean to leave you hanging." He took another bite. "There's the constant 'me being in love with you' ness. I don't know a better word for that," he added, around his huge bite of macaroni burrito. He held it out to Gus. "Wanna taste?" he asked, gesturing towards the burrito.

"Yeah," Gus said, and leaned over the table, ignoring the burrito, and kissed Shawn.
